A Good Deed at Our Doorstep

If you found money lying on the ground, what would you do? Would you take it? Would you leave it on the ground? Would you turn it in to the police?

The majority of us never have the chance to find out what we'd actually do if we were in this situation, and so we usually consign this question to the realm of the hypothetical.

But for one of our little customers today, that hypothetical became reality.

We entered into this story only because she came back into the shop with her mummy to ask if we had lost any money. Even though the money had been on the ground outside our shop (not directly in front of our door, but pretty close by), it didn't belong to anyone in the shop.

It would have been a simple thing to leave the money lying on the ground, but this child took up the responsibility to look for the rightful owner of the money.

There's a happy ending to this story! The owner, who realised she had dropped her money, had been retracing her steps in a bit of a panic. Just as we were about to type up a notice about lost money, the owner arrived back -- just in time to receive her lost property back from the little girl who had picked it up!
